A local shop had an MCA copy of LAL, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy it.

I wouldn't assume that first generation MCA CDs (made in Japan for the USA) are the same as later ones (compact disc/compact price in some cases)...case in point being LAL.

Oh? Why not? LAL is different?

LAL made in Japan for the US at JVC sounds different than the current canadian, which I assume (perhaps incorrectly, perhaps not) sounds the same as the CD/CP US MCA of yore.

Have you done this comparison yourself?

I wouldn't be surprised if LAL had a "silent upgrade" at some point--it's one of the earlier discs, no?--but it's really a "silent upgrade of what, to what?" sort of thing.

Come on. Between all of us we MUST have every variation...!
