Thin Lizzy

Anyone familiar with Thin Lizzy beyond the Jailbreak album? Should I look for a compilation or are there other albums besides the famous one I should seek out.

Finally! Thought you guys were ignoring me because I'm a geezer into '70s rock, but actually I'm seeing their name tossed around some when talking about the currently hip rock bands out there, and thought I should look back at them.

BTW, I am a geezer into '70s rock, but that's another story.

MOJO published a great article (as usual) on them an issue or two ago.

FWIW, Kirk Hammett of Metallica is a huge Thin Lizzy fan and claims to have modeled much of his guitar playing after one of their guitarists (Eric Bell, I think). Of course, some might say that Mr. Hammett himself is getting a bit "long in the tooth"!

I've never cared for the name "Thin Lizzy," though.

You should pick up the box set or any of the individual albums from the prime period in the 70's. Johnny The Fox is probably my favorite. They were a great band. Also, hunt down the now out of print "Peel Sesssions" cd - one of the best live albums of all time.

John Sykes makes Led Zeppelin sound like Metal Church.

I have Dedication and the Merc skyline pressing of Jailbreak (great-sounding record, BTW), and I feel like I've got Thin Lizzy pretty well covered.
