I got this email alert from Music Direct with the following section....

New this week (to get more information on any of these releases, simply click on the title of interest below):

Jefferson Airplane Expanded Legacy Edition CDs. Completely re-mastered and expanded with new bonus tracks, extensive new liner notes, rare photos and accompanying booklets; these are the ultimate edition of each classic album from the San Francisco Psychedelic rock legends. See this month’s Stereophile for a more detailed history on each album. PURCHASE ALL 6 CDS FOR ONLY $60, JUST ADD THEM TO YOUR CART AND WE'LL DO THE REST!

Jefferson Airplane - After Bathing At Baxter's (expanded Edition) (RCA) $11.99
Originally released in 1967 (same year but 10 months after Surrealistic Pillow), this RCA/BMG Heritage remastered reissue adds 4 bonus tracks 'The Ballad Of You Me and Pooneil' (live-long version previously unreleased), 'Martha' (single version-mono), 'Two Heads' (alternate version-previously unreleased) & 'Things Are Better In The East' (demo version-previously unreleased). Includes 12-page booklet with extensive liner notes, detailed track listing & rare photos.

Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow (expanded edition) (RCA) $11.99
Originally released in 1967, this RCA/BMG Heritage remastered reissue adds 6 bonus tracks 'In The Morning', 'J.P.P. Me Stop B. Blues', 'Go To Her', 'Come Back Baby', 'Somebody To Love' (mono single version) & 'White Rabbit' (mono single version). This groundbreaking piece of folk-rock-based psychedelia includes a 12-page booklet with extensive liner notes, detailed track listing & rare photos. Voted one of Rolling Stone's Essential 200 albums.

Jefferson Airplane - Crown Of Creation (expanded edition) (RCA) $11.99
Originally released in 1968, this RCA/BMG Heritage remastered reissue adds 4 bonus tracks 'Ribump Ba Bap Dum Dum', 'Would You like A Snack', 'Share A Little Joke' (single version-mono) & 'The Saga Of Sydney Spacepig' (previously unreleased). Includes 12-page booklet with extensive liner notes, detailed track listing & rare photos

Jefferson Airplane - Takes Off (expanded edition) (RCA) $11.99
Originally released in 1966, this RCA/BMG Heritage remastered reissue adds 8 bonus tracks, 'Runnin' 'Round This World', 'High Flyin' Bird', 'It's Alright', 'Go To Her' (early version), 'Let Me In' (original uncensored version), 'Run Around' (original uncensored version), 'Chauffer Blues' (alternate version-previously unissued) & 'And I Like It' (alternate version-previously unissued). Includes 12-page booklet with extensive liner notes, detailed track listing & rare photos.

Jefferson Airplane - Bless It's Pointed Little Head (expanded edition) (RCA) $11.99
1969 live album from the band that does not disappoint! The band's favorite set, recorded live at Fillmore West, 1968. "Somebody To Love", "Rock Me Baby", bonus tracks, more.

Jefferson Airplane - Volunteers (expanded edition) (RCA) $11.99
This album was the classic line-up's best political blow against the American empire with the rousing anthems of "We Can Be Together and the title cut balanced by the beautiful but ragged by comparison version (to CS&N) of "Wooden Ships. The live bonus cuts from the same year have the band in great form and sounding nearly as good as they did in the studio.

DONT TELL ME I HAVE TO PURCHASE THESE THINGS AGAIN !

Unless I'm missing something, aren't these the CDs that came out in 2003?

:lol:Here is the reply from Music Direct...

Michael: Thanks for your email. You are correct, they obviously aren’t new recordings. They are brand new re-masters of the original recordings which have new content. They aren’t even available yet. Same deal as with the RCA living stereo releases that were not available when they said they would.

Thanks again.

Happy Holidays!

Ok guys...brace yourself, it looks like there ARE new Jefferson Airplane remasters !

Mike: Thanks for your reply. We apologize for not making ourselves clear. These recordings are new re-masters of old originals. You could get the original recordings at any store. However, the manufacturer has just started production of these new re-masters. We had each title available as soon as they were released (12/24) but they are now on backorder as we are waiting for more. Likewise, with the RCA Living Stereo collection that we have, we did receive the titles as soon as they were released. However, the manufacturer underestimated the demand for the titles so they didn’t have them available for dealers for a very long time. I believe they were released in September. We did not receive our entire batch until November. During that whole period, they were not available not only because we didn’t have them, but also because the manufacturer itself didn’t have them.

We do believe these will come into stock shortly, but at the moment they are not available and we are taking backorders on those titles.

Thanks again and we apologize for our confusing response, hope this clarifies it a bit.

Happy Holidays!

That makes no sense. 12/24 was a Friday. Discs are released on Tuesdays.

From the descriptions, these are the 2003 discs. No online dealer I could find lists anything newer than that.
