I guess we found out why McCain avoided looking at Obama last time. If he forces himself to acknowledge Obama, he can't hide his contempt. ...

Reviews of Gwen Ifill's performance in the 2004 VP debate from the ultra-right Free Republic : So, is the MRC going to apologize for misjudging Ifill's professionalism? I thought Gwen Ifill did a very good job, aside from the occassional mix-up on who was due to speak.

She made Lehrer ...

Why Sarah Palin Is A Better Debater Than You Think

Of course, those clips are from Alaska-centric debates.

McCain announces he will serve only one term, a move intended to reduce concerns over his age and excite the lunatics who can hardly wait to elect President Palin. Surrogates argue that this will allow President McCain to flex his mavericky muscles without concerns about being reelected.

McCain could use this to demonstrate a real contrast between himself and President Bush: When Jenna Bush got married a few months back, it was in a dignified private ceremony.

McCain camp prays for Palin wedding

I told my wife about this story, and she speculated that McCain would get ordained and perform the ceremony himself.

The only explanation I can come up with is that agreeing with McCain makes him a follower rather than a leader.

But I prefer to think they're saying we can't trust Obama because he agrees with a sleazebag like McCain.

It would have been more fun if Obama had landed some zingers, but that may have distracted from his more important goal, which was to look presidential and show a decent grasp of foreign policy. I think he accomplished that. Overall, it was an unmemorable evening. But if all people remember a week f...

I'm pretty sure McCain will make it to the debate. I just don't know if he'll be trumpeting some breakthrough (real or imaginary) or whining that Obama forced him to show up.

Well, I find 269 a lot less scary than 268.

But yeah, New Hampshire's a bit of a mystery. The polls were way off in the primary. It's the only state Gore lost but Kerry won.

McCain must have spent a lot of time in New Hampshire to win the primaries in both 2000 and 2008.
