Re: Did you'll see that ABBEY ROAD 5. mix from the multitrac

I wonder how I am going to get this DVD-A program to my server? Do I use an uncompressed ISO disc image? Or is there a way to rip the audio and get it compressed to lossless FLAC or something? I'm not sure. But check out the alt back cover I am going to use (for Abbey Road Surround disc on server) w...

Mono vinyl transfers with "Y" connector

I thought I would post this question here since Luke might know the answer this one one. For Mono LPs being captured to digital for server and CD output I have a question. Generally I have been recording in stereo and then selecting the best channel, and copying that to the other channel. I mean if ...

Re: Finally I am Ripping with dBpoweramp for Music Server

A year later and I am still ripping. It does look like there is an end in sight somewhere this coming year. There is something interesting I noticed. When I came to a CD not found in the database, no tags available, I had to make a decision, type in tracks manually, and find and album/CD cover pictu...

Re: Did you'll see that ABBEY ROAD 5. mix from the multitrac

I've been listening to this a bit more now with my reconditioned speakers. I like how there are guitar and keyboard overdubs in rear speakers, often with everything else (other than those parts) in fronts. Nice sound quality. Those that like 5.1 or surround should grab this. It's a good mix, all par...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

He doesn't particularly care if the material is issued or not. The lack of live material in the box sure seems to come down to lack of interest more than anything. I'll ask him next time we meet up - which could happen, you never know. I was thinking last night when I was writing these posts above ...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

Live Who tapes are the crown jewels of the Pete archives. Universal cannot claim rights to them under the band's contract under normal circumstances. Why do you say that? As far as I can recall, none of the archival live releases say anything like "Under license from Eel Pie" or "Und...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

If a) that was true and b) Pete cared about money that much, it makes no sense than the box was comprised how it was. It seems possible that band recordings would necessarily be released by Universal, but Pete is free to do as he pleases with his demos. If there was anything where Pete was going to...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

Plus the wonderful Young Vic slab included in the DE Who's Next, does that not count? Not if we're talking about "holding things back" or whatever. The Who's Next DE could have easily been a 2 CD set of studio recordings, with the complete Young Vic being a separate release. Instead they ...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

Like a separate release. I'm going with "no release". My guess is Pete is at best indifferent to the live Quad material. There has been a slow steady flow of new product over the last 20 odd years. Some remixes, bonus tracks, live sides, box set, deluxe editions, concert video, etc. There...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

I really think that Townshend has other things in mind with live 73 tapes. That is the only reason that they were not included in this set. Like...not releasing them? Like a separate release. There has been a slow steady flow of new product over the last 20 odd years. Some remixes, bonus tracks, li...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

It would have been nice to stick a fresh master of the original mix on the nearly-empty DVD-A. Would this have killed them to hand over a HIGH-REZ 24/96 version of the original stereo album? Townshend must be pissed off at Universal, and is holding back on all the live stuff, full 5.1, and high rez...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

Is the book a big hard bound type thing? I've not even seen the set in the store yet. The thing about the remixed version of the album is that one of my favorite moments is in Sea and Sand" when the acoustic guitar plays those lovely arpeggios as the lines are sung "The Girl I Love... is a...

Re: Chicago on the KBFH (in Quadraphonic) 1974?

Thanks for the bit of additional information Dave. I did get the disc burned to DVD. I tried DVD Decrypter which requested a DL disc (which I don't have on hand). I then tried DVD Shrink to bring it down in size. It was interesting (to me anyway) that Shrink does not claim to open ISO image files. I...

Re: Chicago on the KBFH (in Quadraphonic) 1974?

Thanks David. I hope this is a good version of the original full tape. I went to burn the DL'd files and realized that this is a dual-layer DVD project. I have none of those on hand. I wonder what would happen if I ran an audio disc through DVD Shrink to get it down in size? I guess I should try. bt...
