I've noticed a similar thing going on lately with a lot of Van Morrison CDs, which suddenly seem to be out of print (including many, if not all, of the Polydor remasters). A few days back, I realized there's still a few '80s and '90s (and even one or two '70s) Van albums I don't have, and went looki...

Re: The Beach Boys - Sea of Tunes, etc.

Fourm members, what are your favorite SOT sets, or Beach Boys gray market discs? It's not a SOT set, but I like the Lei'd in Hawaii set I have from '67. I've always been fascinated with the rehearsals and performances that resulted from that other ill-fated '67 Beach Boys project. Many of them fall...

Sadly, I only have a few of the SOT titles (*cough*). I have the stereo Today/Summer Days twofer, the Alternate Smiley Smile , and disc 1 of the Smile set. Of course, to most people these discs would be an exercise in horrible tedium, but as an unabashed Beach Boys geek, I find them incredibly fasci...

Re: Simpsons season 8

I see Best Buy has it for $29.99 tomorrow. I just went over to my local BB and grabbed it. I'm especially excited to have "Brother from Another Series" and the episode about Homer finding his soulmate, featuring the voice of Johnny Cash ("This is just your memory. I can't give you an...

Re: The Posies

Anyone like them? I've owned 'Dear 23' for a few years, but never listened much. (Mostly bought because I'm so fond of 'Apology.') So I bought 'Frosting on the Beater' for the heck of it the other day (all of $2). The damn thing is infectious. Or maybe it's just me. I'm right where you were before ...

I have the Ebbetts; it sounds good to me, very warm and rich, a lot like my own US LP.

Unfortunately, I don't have Desjardin's version to compare it to ... just my own transfer of a "1U" UK LP (which is usually what I listen to when I want to hear the album on the go).

Hmm, that's odd. I extracted Abbey Road successfully on a Mac, but I also have a Dell laptop running XP and I extracted the pre-emphasized Columbia The Wall CD successfully on that. In both cases, I extracted to WAV files. Perhaps I can do a little testing (with Abbey Road on the PC, and with AIF f...

I have an original, but when I tried importing the files as .wav files through iTunes, it didn't de-emphasize them. It's the most recent iTunes and on Windows XP...do I need a Mac? (and if I do, do I need to import them as .wav files, or can I import them as aif files?) Hmm, that's odd. I extracted...

Anyone listen to the clips? I just did. (I actually have both the Atco and the Jensen remaster, but this saved me the trouble of running downstairs to grab them.) For some time I've had difficulty deciding which version I like better. I'm still not sure. Based on listening to the clips just now, I ...

I actually stumbled upon mine in a store recently. It was priced well below $100 because the booklet had suffered some damage. The disc was fine, though, and it looked genuine ... so I went for it.

Yes, it works very well with the Japanese Abbey Road.

Thanks. I don't remember a huge difference either ... but I'll probably re-grab the Atco disc. After all ... I already have multiple copies of albums I like less.
