Wheels of Fire on DCC is the best version of an indifferent recording. The late Tom Dowd didn't do Cream much of a service with the recording (even Fresh Cream sounds better than Disraeli Gears and Wheels of Fire) The DCC set starts with the superb packaging - the printing was done using the same ve...

I never knew this was remastered as I have the original Capitol CD. Does this version also include the tracks that were released on Band Of Gypsies 2? No. The album is released as per the original vinyl. The booklet has changed however. For those extra tracks, you need look no further than Band of ...

No RE-2 on the 1993 CDs, as they are MCA, not WEA. You say "minimal NoNoise" on the EH versions. Is there *any*? I hadn't thought so. And I guess it's still up in the air about the 1993 CDs. And what of the Polydor CDs? Apparently the Non-US AYE (with the Track type booklet) has the original mono R...

Midnight Oil's "Best of Both Worlds"

Got this DVD/CD combo yesterday. It's a legit release of 2 legendary Oils concerts (finally) from 1982 (Capitol Theatre, Sydney) and 1985s Oils on the Water. The DVD has both concerts filmed and the CD has the Oils on the Water concert. Any Oils fans MUST get this.

The Hendrix CDs have been mastered in the US several times. AYE, Axis and ELL have been mastered 4 times. 1. Non-original master source (i.e. copy of the master) Possibly done by Lee Herschberg. 2. NoNoised version of 1. Joe Gastwirt, I think. RE-1 in dead wax. 3. MCA versions with ersatz album art ...

Luke, is the sound the same as the Those Were The Days set, or worse (for the Disraeli Gears tracks, I mean). Not as good as the MFSL gold? What's the cover and booklet presentation like? The BBC CD sounds very bad anyway and it sounds like the same mastering has been used again. Too bad. It's relea...

Soundwise, I agree that it is definitive. There are other tracks on the DE that have been released in not great sound (the Disraeli Gears demos and the BBC tracks) that may be improved here. Also the DE cover, I suspect, will be high quality and the booklet may have some of the Ben Nevis photo sessi...
