Today I got the West German "Hot Rocks" discs with a special slipcase!

They match the "good" disc in Andreas's post exactly. The matrix for HR1 is 02.

Only paid $32, that ain't bad.

I took a gamble and bought a copy for $100 from someone who couldn't describe the condition properly. It turned out to be VG++. The UK "Are You Experienced" was the same story. Both of those usually go for a lot more on eBay, along with adjectives like "STUNNING". The mono "Safe As Milk" with bumper...

Forget it. I made a needle-drop that blows it away. I waited years for someone to do it, and I finally said "fuck it" and just bought the LP myself.

Guys, I'm a dumbass. I don't know anything about that type of stuff. First off, I was getting SADIE confused with CEDAR. Second, the only other time I've ever seen that PRISM system listed on a disc is on that "Aqualung" anniversary remaster - so OUCH I say! I only started paying attention to Elton ...

I didn't think the Rocket (Gus Dudgeon) remasters were bad -- just a bit loud and trebly IIRC. My dad has the Rocket "Tumbleweed", and in the liner notes Gus Dudgeon brags about all the noise processing units they used, including shit like SADIE and PRISM NOISE SHAPER...and how they "would have use...

Do any of you cunts want to swap CDR's and fill in all the blanks here? I have the DJM "Piano Player", so we can figure that one out if anybody has the MCA or Polydor. It would also be nice if we could figure out which ones are BEST. ------------------------------------------------------------------...

So are the Polydors ALL clones of the DJM's, or what?

Help me out people!

It's okay - not as good as the other sources though.

So what tracks/sources did you change from your initial singles collection? I didn't keep track the first time, Chris. Remember? I had far less disc space so I did it song by song and I only saved what I thought were the best sources. I also didn't have any of the UK hits discs. That's one of the r...

The Who: UK Singles (my choices)

Since Andreas asked for this, here it is: the sources I chose for my UK Who singles set. Most of them were easy to choose, but a few of them were very close (the later singles from The Who Collection, for example.) DISC ONE 1. I'm The Face CD single 2. Zoot Suit CD single 3. I Can't Explain MBBB 4. ...

Elton John (Best CD's)

So - are the DJM's the best discs?

And the Polydors are clones of the DJM's?

I see some Canadian Polydors for sale and I was wondering if those were the good ones.

Hoffman himself prefers the gold disc, and I tend to agree.

I thought the 92/94/97/00 discs were all the same. The only difference is the label and packaging.

There are Polydor Elton discs too? Would that be 3 CD versions in the UK?

So why does everybody on SHTV cream over the Fame discs then? I bought them because they drilled it into my head that they were the best. Now it seems to be common knowledge that the standard Capitol's were the same all along? WTF!
