Walter Reed vs. Walter Reed

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/213806.php

If true, this is easily one of the most bizarre stories I've heard in a while. Note to interns: check the accuracy of your images before putting them in the backdrop slide-show, 'kay?

Does AVG 7.5 still work

Hey guys, I was a happy user of AVG for *years*; the discovery that Norton Antivirus was bloated, terrible, and unneeded was perhaps one of the happiest days of my computing life. AVG was small, fast, and blessedly unobtrusive, a dying paradigm. Sadly, the paradigm has passed from this mortal coil. ...

http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=159436 I hate to go on Snakepit on this, but really. I think Hoffman has finally chosen sides in this particular doctrinal war that he decides to leave something like this up. I attempted to call out Barry on his superciliousness and got deleted. Su...

Nor that the founding fathers ever had anything to do with the pledge in any of its incarnations.

It was posted largely without context at the Record Room, so it's unclear what it's "supposed" to be. At the very least, the guitar solo edit really sucks, and makes me doubt at least a portion of its authenticity.

The mix itself is pretty great, though.

Trading isn't needed; we GIVE here.

Is the RT "Hatful" ridiculously common or something? I've seen way too many copies. And isn't it the same as the Sire disc?

Give me a bit. I'm sort of swamped at the moment. I don't know whether the Teichiku is an improvement on that cut; what's the problem?

"Alladin" at least partly matches the version I have that claims to be Made in Japan.

Young Americans fixes the obvious problem with the title track, but while it doesn't sync, it also doesn't sound much different. Curious.

Re: Captain Beefheart - The Buddah Years?

Interesting question, this. Firstly: as far as I can tell, the "Wrapper" stuff isn't always derived from a digital source. For starters, a comparison between the Teichiku and Sequel "May Be Hungry" discs revealed a lack of digital sync...make of that what you will. My recollectio...

By the way: I also recently bought an RCA MIJ "Diamond Dogs," which I was mildly astonished to learn I didn't already have. Unlike the German copy, it includes the extra indexing during the "Sweet Thing" sequence.

At this point, I'm missing:
Alladin Sane (I only have the Japanese RCA...curious to see whether yours is different)
Young Americans
ChangesTwoBowie (is yours actually German? My German copy is Made in Japan)
Fame and Fashion (I think mine is Japanese)

Except it isn't that simple. Mal implies, for instance, that he has a Japanese "Lodger" without any of the problems plaguing my copy. Fantastic! Except is his copy a clone of the German version? Moreover, relying on country of origin seems like folly: there are rumblings that the Japan-for...
