I was there. Bought some CDs. Actually went in more or less looking to price out an LP pressing of "Fun House" but didn't see one. Seemed less impressive this year, but I didn't go through any of the vinyl (record player needs new shoes).

Yeah, in the case of Heaven Is In Your Mind (US), a tad bright, but certainly not unliveable, and not compressed, that I could discern.

This KILLS me. Do people realize what's going on here? The mysterious private benefactor, IF HE EXISTS (and my $$ is on Norm if he does), is a fucking idiot.

FWIW, "Stranger In Town" and "Never A Dull Moment" from that group DO circulate. Albeit slowly. Both are nice-sounding at the price I paid ($0).

I already have three - windows laptop, mac mini, linux server. The dvd burner and the massive HDD are in the linux box, though, so it would be easier to deal with doing things on there.

Are you planning to include info on which discs of the London, ABKCO, and remaster series are in actual mono vs. stereo-monic?

I haven't been home to try the linux alternatives yet. I suppose you could run WINE and then run Decrypter through it, but I feel like WINE is cheating, to some extent. I'm guessing that there's a way to do it but the neato GUI interfaces will, as usual, be a year or so behind. Small price to pay fo...

Yeah, this is filed in the bulging drawer of "things it would be easier to do if I used Windows." That's the way the window shades, I guess.

This seems to have answered my questions. It's very annoying how many of these howtos assume that transcoding will need to take place - do none of these guys have dual layer burners? I mean, it only cost me $40...

So, how do I now go about *ahem*ing said Criterions? NeroLinux just spits 'em back out and xcdroast gags on them if they have one bad sector...

Shouldn't I be able to xerox with an unscrupulous program (ie, xcdroast)?

Not BRMC's new one. That's shite.
The Brazilian Girls album is pretty decent.

I do like the New Pornographers, too.
