Re: Thoughts on Quad box

If a) that was true and b) Pete cared about money that much, it makes no sense than the box was comprised how it was. It seems possible that band recordings would necessarily be released by Universal, but Pete is free to do as he pleases with his demos. If there was anything where Pete was going to...

That would be excellent. No audio at all has made it there, has it? I don't see any, at least.

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

Yes, the book is a big hardcover -- in fact, the set consists of the book in a slipcover, with the discs tucked in the inside covers. Re: the '73 shows, Townshend makes quite clear in the book that he considers that tour a disaster, so I'm not surprised he's not eager to put that stuff out there. As...

Re: Thoughts on Quad box

Yeah, it is. That doesn't make it sound "big," just diffuse. Didn't work for me.

The bad news is IMO it's not a great 5.1 mix. The good news is that there isn't much of it.

Thoughts on Quad box

Original album: this seems like a slightly improved mastering of the 1996 remix. Which is fine, I guess -- it was of the better remixes from that era. It would have been nice to stick a fresh master of the original mix on the nearly-empty DVD-A. Demos: This are fun to listen to. I'm not all freaked ...

Nice. Interesting how the 18-year-old sounds like the most knowledgeable and articulate (and least thin-skinned) one in the room.

CAPTCHA

I've gotta say that the CAPTCHA that pops up here when you've exceeded your login attempts is decipherable only if your vision is the equivalent of a certain former Atlantic mastering engineer's 26kHz hearing. It took me about eight tries.

But I'm back!

Hello?

With Victoria Jackson leading the way, we can finally get the influence of British common law out of our legal system. Fuck the Magna Carta!

Re: Creation Museum opens in KY, end times draw nearer

One of the funniest things about the "museum" is how hard it works to integrate "science" into its young-earth creationist message. Sure, natural selection is real, they say, but only within "kinds." And it's really really fast. So Noah only had to load two dogs onto th...

Re: Pre-emphasis list?

Xenu, if you're still reading this, I totally agree on the Zappa EMI discs, at least the Witch/Utopia twofer. I don't have an original, but my lossless copy sounds much better decoded (unless you really like the crash cymbal being the most prominent element of the mix). I'll check out Tinseltown whe...

New ATMP remaster available on vinyl, 24/96 download

Remastered "at Abbey Road" -- if this is the same team as did the Beatles and Lennon remasters, this could be good.
