Good. I like that the conservatives are finding it increasingly hard to stand by him.

Oh boy! This whole gay thing is gonna be a big one! Personally, I don't care what two people of the age of consent do with each other as long as it's consentual. But, I have a hard time trying to see gay/lesbian marriages. If I have a kid, I really don't want him/her to know about or see it. If that...

I just read the interview in Maxum Blender. It just confirms most of what I read about her elsewhere, except for her being lazy.

Jewel is indeed handling her own afairs now.

You want marketing of artists? Try Berry Gordy at Motown. That's not to diminish the talent there - I like that stuff myself - but image and production had as much to do with things as raw talent did. What am I saying here? I guess what I care about is the end result, not if someone is "constructed...

Funny how new members keep noticing that, and all the old members keep telling them how wrong they are.

Don't think so. I posted something I thought was bad.

Uh, Mikey, Jewel is not on Sony and has never had anything to do with Sony. She is a Time-Warner artist, and has been signed to Atlantic for years. Can I take this to mean that you are not a Beatles fan? They were heavily marketed and manicured, at least up until they outgrew Brian Epstien's control.

My wife just bought the new Jewel CD on her like of the new single. I listened to the first song and didn't like it, but I liked everything else on the album. In her liner notes, she states that this new album is closer to the sound she had originally heard in her head. And, from reading other sourc...

I lost interest after his 1992 album "Diamonds and Pearls", although "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" was his last great single.

What's always fascinated me as a music fan, over the years, has been the music "style", largely found in the British Isles, known as "Northern Soul". How does this fit into our collective conception, of what is black music and what is white music ? Would anyone like to weigh in on this one ????? Mi...

Interesting. People I know who experienced the era as young adults almost invariably finger 1973 (give or take a year) as "the end of the sixties," which for them started after Kennedy's assassination and the British Invasion. (Still a decade, just shifted a little.) I agree with Grant that white -...

Aaargh. The confusion for me stemmed from the use of the word "soul." It wasn't clear to me that Grant was talking about 70s and 80s "black music"--music not usually referred to as soul. Actually, it was in the 70s, all the way up to 1982, when Billboard changed it to "Black" music. Blue-eyed soul ...

I wonder what it was about '73 that apparently caused so many shifts. I guess the Vietnam cease-fire was the obvious thing, along with the first oil crisis, Watergate and Steinbrenner buying the Yankees. Definitely the beginning of a new era, for better or worse. Ryan Disco has often been thrown ar...
