Thanks a lot, Ryan! I'm assuming that the mix of "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side" that's on TWWL and the "Very Best Of" comp is the original 45 mix. I had no idea it was remixed for The Queen Is Dead . If (or when) Rhino spruces up the Smiths catalog, I hope they'll do someth...

I would prefer to keep this about SACD versus CD instead of sh.tv versus SC, but to each his own. How is this "sh.tv versus SC?" SC has been its own entity since it "spun off" from here last year. Despite what you may be reading into this, I don't think this is simply some anti-...

Re: "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me"...

Does anyone know if the original Rough Trade 7" single had the truncated intro? I'm just wondering if this is a 45 edit or just a trim that was made by Inglot and Co. because of the CD's time limits.

I have the silver, non-Au20 Ryko CD of ChangesOneBowie. Does that qualify as "[a] 'plain' Ryko"? I'm sort of lost by this point. I think that qualifies. I would assume the version of "Jean Genie" on there is exactly the same as the one on the Ryko Aladdin Sane . There's only one...

Does anybody have the Sound + Vision box set? I wouldn't mind having all of the tracks that are unavailable elsewhere. Somebody actually uploaded the whole box at OiNK a few weeks ago, but it disappeared when their server crashed.

I wouldn't mind hearing them. The only one I've ever heard is Diamond Dogs and I wasn't terribly impressed. Still, I'm a sucker for freebies, so sign me up.

I have the entire Ryko series (minus the two live discs), so if anyone wants or needs those, I'll make the same offer.

I stopped back in to grab the Dylan "A Fool Such as I" disc. By the way, does anybody else love the weird comments you generally see on Pedro's? They're mostly of the "WOW! I LOST THIS ALBUM IN A FIRE SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO BUT NOW I HAVE IT BACK" variety, like everyone's building a potential alibi. I...

If you're a Pedro's member, it was just uploaded on there a week or so ago. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, so I don't know how it compares to my regular 1987 pressing.

That's a very odd compilation. It's typical, though: they're trying to appeal to both the casual fan and the hardcore collector, but satisying neither. They should have just made a compilation of extended mixes. Many of the ones they're including really are great: the 12" version of "Let's Go Crazy"...

Yeah, if they're trying to thwart illegal copying, it's not working. In DVD Shrink, I can either strip the special features and put them on a separate disc or just add a little bit of compression. I've found that copies look identical to me as long as the compression is less than 5%. I agree that if...

I have the original WB versions of Tupelo Honey and Saint Dominic's Preview if anyone is still interested. There's little possibility of either of them being any kind of "secret remaster," since I bought them way back in 1988.

I have a cheap HP 52x drive in my PC which is apparently mfd. by Lite-On. I've never had any issues with it, for what it's worth. I know most of their drives seem to get fairly good reviews and the prices are pretty reasonable.

Interesting. I just logged on to Pedro's a few minutes ago and got a "mass PM" informing me that I now have the option of uploading anonymously. They're also offering to convert all previously-uploaded torrents to "anonymous" status. What good would that really do, though? If the RIAA decided to com...
