I find it fascinating that the abstinence brigade gets so defensive whenever someone comes out with a study that refutes their beliefs. They're so delusional, they really must feel as though they can control every sexual situation, from a steamy encounter in a parked car to a carefully planned bedro...

I like lists such as these, just to see the interesting albums I've never heard of that someone will post. Keep them coming, and I'll try a post a year or two, so long as I'm not embarrassed by what I might put on it.

I'm interested in the Grado mono carts, mostly because of their price and availability. They have two different models, one with a conical stylus and one with an elliptical. Denon is also supposed to make a good one. After that, the choices are too expensive. I have a decent amount of jazz records p...

Luke, I'm interested in purchasing a mono cartridge, but I can't ascertain (from comments on the internet) if it makes a positive difference in playing mono records. Which one do you use?

My first experience with Santorum was in 1994, when he ran a highly negative campaign to get elected to Congress. I was in Delaware at the time, watching Philadelphia TV stations. His 100% negative ads rained down on the airwaves. He came across as a jerk who would sell his grandmother for a dollar ...

Many people rave about the Deluxe remaster, partially because it contains the "Detroit mix" of What's Going On. This is the first mix that Marvin sent Motown, but after negotiations between the two sides, Marvin redid the mix and approved the more polished one for release. On the Detroit mix, the st...

Former Hitler Youth Joseph Ratzinger. Nice going, Catholicism. Way to think outside the box.

I'd like to help you, but I have most of their albums on vinyl only. I never bothered to upgrade, even though I like the group very much. Space Ritual supposedly sounds superb on the UK reissue, but I haven't heard it.

Those CDs must sound way better than the vinyl pressings I have.

That's all I got, too. No CDs. It's funny, I know of no one who owns Elton CDs, yet he's one of the top sellers of all time. Perhaps many people simply held on to their Elton records.

I guess the idea is to have room behind the couch to set those rear speakers up, but I can't imagine that's practical in most surround sound setups. Most listener's rooms are too small. It would be a somewhat similar issue with our environment. Plus, not many people want to locate their couches away...

I didn't consider putting in a wall plate for the cable outlet. This gets me thinking. I haven't done a brand new outlet and box before, only switched out old ones. Do you use a reciprocating saw to cut the hole for the outlet box in the drywall? So the only clean wall is the one where the rear spea...

I'm enjoying this discussion, but I thought I'd chime in with my own receiver story. After many different kinds of amps, including tubes, separates, single ended (don't ask, I got off that train a long time ago), I settled on a 2 channel Onkyo 8501, 100W/channel. This thing kicks all kinds of booty....

That's mighty funny and dead on accurate, and I'm a KC (Fripp) fan. Not the first person in the world who thinks Fripp is kind of a jerk, that's for sure.

I had a twinge of sadness when I heard she died, but I'm glad for her that she can finally move on. (And maybe now the other patients at the hospice can get the peace and quiet they need as well, without lunatic protestors harassing them in their last days.) Thanks for bringing that up. I can't imag...
