The Beach Boys - Sea of Tunes, etc.

Fourm members, what are your favorite SOT sets, or Beach Boys gray market discs? I recall hearing back in the mid to late 80s that the BB were out to hunt down bootleggers and bust them with all their legal might. I was told this by dealers out there at the swap meets I'd attend. Interesting that it...

Yeah, this one does have a few moments on it, and that is it. I keep trying to get into it and I will try again. But one listen to Every Grain of Sand or Heart of Mine from Shot of Love, or anyhting from Infidels, and it is obviously the low point of the period. Oh, wait, not as low as Saved. But an...

That's what I read. Could be wrong. Remix might be around 72, Lesh is said to have done it.

I still have not sat down to do the tick removal, but glad it won't be a major ordeal. I don't like to be tired of an album, and have no interest in listening to it once I have finished.

No extra B that I see. A missing Q perhaps.

Thanks Chris for the information. It sure sounds like a board recording to me. But anyway, it is a very cool boot. If 74 Tour is a BBC, it was a weak BBC recording, very weak. Brain Damage is not that one right? Brain Damage is a board recording with no audience, does not sound at all like a BBC. I ...

Except, it's more a case of "it goes from stereo to mono, then fails to segue". That seems to indicate someone took a stereo mix, then decided to replace the end of one song with the mono mix, for one reason or another. What about the rest of the album? Are there any further differences a...

Pink Floyd - 17 Feb 1972, Rainbow Theatre, London, UK

This show was recorded by the BBC and was broadcast on the air in the UK anyway. Most of the boots seem to be "not" from the original source, and some are taped from FM with ever present hiss. The disc titled "Forbidden Samples" seems to be the best one I have heard, but there ma...

This is the first I've heard this is a different mix. While I do know that the segue between "Afterglow ...." and "Long Agos" doesn't seem to be intact on any stereo CD (my first issue Castle CD seems to edit into mono at the last round of the descending "riff", then f...

GRATEFUL DEAD - ANTHEM OF THE SUN Original 1968 Mix WB 7Arts

Another one that I have been up all night doing a needle drop of. This mix was rumored to be a wilder, more psychadelic ride than the one Phil Lesh did weeks or months after the album originally came out. I have not compared mix to mix, but I sense that the separation might be stronger on this early...

SMALL FACES - OGDEN'S NUT GONE FLAKE Original 60s Stereo Mix

I have this LP on the TT right now as I write this, going to HD for needle drop. While this is known to be a different mix unissued on any CD, I am not sure that is it a better one. I have to errase a few clicks at start of each side and that is it! It's a good copy and I cleaned it well. I'd be int...

I taped this one, off the air, on one of the repeat BBC Rock Hours that happened a few years later (probably circa 1981). A pretty good setlist as I recall. Waterloo Sunset too, no? That's right Waterloo Sunset is wonderful standout on this recording. I think someone in the audience is tooting a ka...

The Kinks - Kristmas Concert 77'

This 1977 show recorded in Dec. at Finsbury Park in London is one of the great ones. A much more involving performance than the "One For The Road" album for sure. Here we have another radio show. This time it was the BBC Radio One which captured this legendary one for the ages. In the US, ...

I've always been intrigued by this. I remember reading that all of these were from the same (vinyl?) source, and all processed to a different degree. I have no way of confirming that, though. So the "Definitive" set is actually definitive? I went back and fixed some spelling errors in my ...
