The best Family Circus I ever saw was a parody in the college alternative paper, titled "The Family Circle Jerks". In it, the surprised mother overhears her daughter telling her friend: "My Mommy uses incest to make the house smell nice."

Garfield, for its first few years, was a deeply weird comic strip. The ambiguous relationship between Jon and Lyman was just one of its precious delights.

Did we ever find out what happened to Odie's owner? I heard he died of AIDS. Ryan Are you talking about Lyman, Jon's roommate from the early 1980s? I think he moved out and moved on once he found out that Jon only had a thing for Liz. Once he departed, the strip was never the same. I have no idea i...

A friend of mine has an Xbox that's been hacked and replaced with a hard drive, and filled with almost every arcade game you can think of, as well as all the SuperNintendo games, Sega Genesis games, and a bunch of other stuff. This machine is incredible. All of the games work, but some of them have ...

Thanks for all the information. I can't wait to hear proper versions of these albums. The only CD I have is the '98 Face to Face, and the music makes the listening experience barely tolerable. I'm sticking with the vinyl releases for now. A friend gave me an 80's VGPS German mono vinyl re-issue, and...

Hah, it looks like she's holding a cheap Ibanez Soundgear bass. Those basses sound like crap.

Hmm. Why does she say all that? I wasn't there, of course, but the Doors recordings just seem too sloppy for the Wrecking Crew to be involved. The only record I could envision them playing on is Soft Parade, and even that is stretching the bounds of my belief.

I have to laugh at the ricer cars when I see them putting around town. The back of the exhaust looks like a coffee can (Folgers) stuck to the back of the car. The custom color is some wacky tropical shade. You can hear them humming down the road, because their exhaust tone sounds like some 2 seater ...

No one ever accused white supremecists of being brain surgeons, but come on. It's times like these (if you'll pardon the SHTV-ish reflection) that I'm reminded of Dylan's line from "Idiot Wind:" It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe. Right on. They're so dumb and blind by ideology...

I'm not generally a fan of bestsellers, but I read Open Season by C. J. Box after my wife recommended it to me, and it was good. The protagonist is a game warden from Wyoming, which makes the setting fresh and innovative. I just finished reading An Innocent Millionaire by Stephen Vicizency. He's a s...

The DVD sets of Charmed were held up for a long time because of this. They finally received approval after clearing it with every band that performed on the show.

I think it was 2001 when Warner Brothers turned a corner and started doing some of their best restoration work. Before that, it was hit-or-miss.

Citizen Kane is a must see on my list. I've seen other versions on VHS, and they were okay, but nothing like you've described it. Another WB reissue people have raved about is The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

There's an entire generation moving out of P-town right now. Too many yuppie condos, not enough jobs. Things have not recovered from the dot-com hangover. There's no defense infrastructure base, so no way to tap into the new growth economy. Maybe someone should start marketing Victory Gin. Hee hee,...
