Here's the comments from hoffman.tv: My favorite is sample 3: Fullest sound, dynamic and lifelike quality. Sample 4 is rather bright, but also an upgrade in clarity and possibly from a better source. Sample 2 is even brighter and also too harsh. Sample 1 is very dull, sounds like a rolled-off high e...

Moby Grape "Wow" reissue audio comparison

I posted this over at hoffman and was met with an underwhelming lack of response (only two people bothered to listen and comment on the sample). I figured hey, if I'm only gonna get a couple responses anyway, I might as well be posting over at Luke's. The two people that commented over there (Andrea...

Thompson is scary because he has a much better shot at winning than the other unapologetic warheads McCain and Giuliani.

A mere three months after Johnny Hart's death, we get this: I can see why Johnny Hart was Tinsley's idol, given that he sometimes recycled old drawings and simply added new captions to them, especially in his later years. He also was given to self-aggrandizement, claiming falsely that he was the mo...

Thanks David. Huh. That is a big difference. I miss the prominent Clarence guitar that runs throughout the Dickson mix. It seems to be missing or buried here. But I'd say that overall this Hinshaw mix is better. Has a more coherent, balanced sound and it's nice to hear the drums upfront. It would be...

I've finally gotten around to reading Einarson's book on Gene Clark, and he has the very answer to this question. The album was produced by Chris Hinshaw, and he also did mixes for the 8 completed songs. Then the plug was then pulled on the album. A couple years later Jim Dickson convinced A&M t...

To be honest, I don't think Hillary does either. Yeah, I certainly don't think Hillary has a chance either. She has been far too effectively demonized by talk radio for too many years. Middle America believes she is Queen Liberal despite her being one of the most conservative Dems in the field. And...

I don't know a lot about him. He seems intelligent from what little I've read. But he has no chance of winning. Zero. I'm sure the GOP is just drooling about the prospects of using his name, race, and overseas childhood against him.

Oh yeah, the reason the Republicans lost both houses of Congress is because the American people are concerned about the budget deficit. Couldn't possibly have anything to do with Iraq.

Halleluiah! It's going to be a week's worth of John Kerry strips! Maybe more! After two weeks of fruitcake and "Keith Richards looks really old" jokes, I bet Tinsley is salivating at having this drop in his lap. I predict that he'll be milking this "Kerry hates the troops" thing ...

For some reason I can't let this thread die. So it's still too early for Tinsley's reaction to the elections (that's probably about two weeks away). This past week we've had the rare opportunity to see relatively apolitical Mallard... an entire week devoted to strips about how he likes fruitcake! My...

Well, the Kissinger quote about Iraq that's being tossed around is "Victory is the only meaningful exit strategy" so he's apparently using Iraq to work out his failure issues about Viet Nam. Nobody knows about prolonging unnecessary wars like Kissinger.
