What I really don't like are meta-discussions that distort the claimed theories and arguments. As it turns out, the original Atlantic CD was mastered by Barry Diament from the original master tape. See here.

I wonder how long it takes until Luke tries to bust the Diament-myth. But for the moment, bd is "sexy".

The "digital master" (term used by Mark Linett) was already prepared in 1987.

A technical question about needle drops...is a "flat transfer" possible? Or does the transfer/equipment always color the sound and some post-mastering is required? What I am asking, is the eq on the blue box accurately reproduceable with a needle drop? I thought that was the whole point of...

All Things Must Pass - Dr. Ebbetts

Has anyone heard the Dr. Ebbetts vinyl transfer? As I understand it, he used a US LP. Here is what he writes: As far as Ebbetts is concerned, this second venture into solo-Beatles land was ABSOLUTELY necessary. This is, undoubtedly, a sensational LP that was given absolutely HORRIBLE treatment in it...

The high-precision analogue to digital converter, which samples at 2.8MHz, utilizes an ultra-low jitter clock. The input drivers are pure Class A discrete, complementary FET cascode buggers, open loop, with no feedback. This double-differential, fifth order modulator design handles idle tones in a ...
