Beatles Capitol Boxes

Are any of the mono albums in the Capitol boxes new fold-downs or are they all taken from the same tapes as the LP's? I was wondering about the second album and Help specifically.

Re: Jethro Tull "Teacher"

People have said that the remaster is not the UK mix. What is it then? Because it isn't the US Benefit mix or the MFSL mix.

Jethro Tull "Teacher"

I always thought, from my time at shitville, that there were two mixes of this song. As for which appears where, I don't know. So today I lined up three versions...Original US Benefit...Living In The Past MFSL...and the Mewtilated remaster (labelled "UK Mix")...and all three are clearly di...

Re: Random missing part in "So Sad About Us" mono mix

Does anyone out there have the Classic LP or a rip thereof that isn't mine? I gotta get to the bottom of this.

Re: Random missing part in "So Sad About Us" mono mix

I checked the Jap AQO box and it doesn't have the cut either. I must be losing my mind. I know I compared the Classic LP to *something* and it also had the cut. Maybe someone else's rip?

Re: Random missing part in "So Sad About Us" mono mix

Here's a sample of the Classic LP. http://www.sendspace.com/file/yqi831 The cut is more on the beat than I remembered, but it's there...basically, four "la" are edited out. I don't have the Polydor CD anymore but I compared it to the Classic LP once and they both have the same cut. I wonde...

Re: Random missing part in "So Sad About Us" mono mix

The Polydor CD & Classic LP both a have a chunk missing towards the end of the song. And it doesn't happen symmetrically on a beat. It's as if someone sliced out a random piece of tape. I just listened to the last minute on the version from the box and didn't notice anything. Time? I just liste...

Re: Boomer history ends on September 9 (Beatles remasters)

Also, it seems like some of the five minutes of NR were used on "I Saw Her Standing There." Compared to the Capitol Albums, the intro sounds quite dead on the remaster and the end seems to die out rather quickly. The intro sounds just as dead, and the end dies out just as fast, on the &qu...

Re: Sell Out Deluxe Edition

As I said before, Astley left the EQ alone, which is okay in the proper context. In this case it was a bad idea, since he jacked the volume up so high, it's impossible to listen without ear damage. Everything is hard limited/compressed into oblivion. I have to turn the volume down far lower than nor...

Re: Sell Out Deluxe Edition

All the boxes have finally surfaced on some torrent sites, and everyone is creaming over the sound quality. These boxes sound every bit as bad as "Odds & Sods" did, and everybody hated that one, so what gives? Is Jon Astley's crap mastering work acceptable now?

What gives you that impression?
