I think that's more like two or three weeks away, based on his typical lead time.

I assume the Yoko thread was totally nuked? I can't find it.

Maybe I'm giving him too much credit, but I think maybe the point of the second strip at least is to mock the fact that the media placed more attention on the anti-Semitic comments than on the much more serious offense of driving drunk. Which actually (I hate to admit) seems a valid point. Although ...

The video reminds me of something Michael Jackson would have done in the late 80's.

BMG is apparently thin-skinned. I remember the exact same thing happening four years ago, when there was a thread discussing the Elvis "30 #1 Hits" compilation. People were critical of the sound of the remix of "Suspicious Minds." It's one of those deals where the horns were over...

Re: How many times has Pet Sounds been issued on CD?

The first CD release of Pet Sounds in the U.S. didn't appear until 1990??? That's three years after the Beatles CDs appeared in the U.S. Is this correct? It's only been in the past 20 or so years that Pet Sounds has really acquired its reputation as one of the all-time "classic" albums fr...

FWIW, it looks like there's an Ebbetts version of the entire wide "Beatlemania WTB" on alt.binaries.beatles at present. But if it has similar EQ to what he did on the blue box WTB maybe it's not worth the trouble.

What I am asking, is the eq on the blue box accurately reproduceable with a needle drop? I thought that was the whole point of the blue box transfers. What makes no sense to me is the heavy EQ'ing people like Ebbetts are doing. From glancing at usnet, it seems Ebbetts has done a plethora of version...

Sometime in the '70s it was finally issued in stereo on the purple Capitol label. Only problem is there are two versions - one wide and one narrow. The copy I have has the wide side 1 and the narrow side 2. So, wide and narrow relative to what? Which version corresponds to the Parlophone WTB in ter...

What is this "forum approved" Beatlemania of which you speak? I would like to hear it of course.

Recommendations for With the Beatles and HDN needle drops

So what would you all recommend for needle drops of With the Beatles and HDN? I downloaded flacs of the Dr. Ebbetts "Blue Box" versions of these two, and they sound like they were EQ'ed by Bill Inglot and Ken Perry circa 1990. Bleh. My preference would be something flat from the LP, or at ...

Re: Bob Dylan "The Times They Are A-Changin'"

"Only A Pawn In Their Game" [snip] But this ain't a compelling song. Another "finger pointing" song (it's more cynical and bitter than sad or mournful), it doesn't have the brilliant lyrics or the imagery of Dylan's better protest songs. Hmm, I find it to be pretty sophisticated...

Part of the problem here is that the definition of "conservative" is so broad as to be almost meaningless. Any expression of nostalgia for the past is "conservative" (Jonathan Richman, Bob Seger)? Any favorable opinion of Christianity is "conservative" (Jesus is Just Al...
