Re: A Quick One Box

Astley says that he ran some of the remixes through some device to make them sound "older". Maybe this has something to do with it. Where is quality control? Where did he mention a "device"? Sorry. The device is a "Maselec 3 X band compressor" which was used "on s...

Re: A Quick One Box

I finally got to hear this box, and MAN is it bad. First of all, the EQ is awful. I know that Astley left it alone, but I think this was the wrong thing to do, especially since he slammed the volume levels, which only makes the sound more harsh and grating. I don't think Astley added any compression...

Re: Sell Out Deluxe Edition

You're right Luke. I compared the Classic LP to the deluxe and the LP is actually brighter! However, the deluxe has the levels smashed and EQ that sounds lousy at that volume (whether it's "authentic" or not). The Classic LP sounds every bit as good as the deluxe and it has all the dynamic...

Re: Sell Out Deluxe Edition

The EQ is extremely heavy on the upper mids which gives it a harsh, grating sound (this is the case with much of Astley's work). And on top of that it's very loud. The mastering isn't any worse than, say, Odds And Sods, which I thought you guys hated. Becoming desensitized perhaps?

Re: Sell Out Deluxe Edition

I just got to hear this. The mastering is terrible (as would be expected) but the bonus material is really cool.

Re: Boomer history ends on September 9 (Beatles remasters)

- Only compression on the stereo tracks? Limiting is totally different from compression. As they said, they are keeping the dynamics intact and only using some "light-handed" limiting to bring the volume up a bit. I have no problem with this, depending on what their definition of "li...

It's funny how people everywhere are questioning the authenticity of this track. I mean, how fucking stupid can you be?

Re: A Quick One Box

I made my own deluxe edition literally days before they announced the official one. I would imagine that it beats the shit out of Astley's. Here's the tracklisting: DISC 1: MONO -------------- 01.-10. Original Mono LP 11. Substitute 12. Circles 13. Diguises 14. Batman 15. Bucket T 16. Barbara Ann 17...

Re: The Who - Something's Coming mixes

Mine is the "common" mix.

So which mixes appear on which CD's? My brain hurts.

Mine is definitely smoother. Alas, here is my new remaster of my transfer with the end spliced on from yours. I balanced out the EQ and got rid of some tinniness. Let me know what you think!

I think your clip sounds a bit better, seems like the same mix, but here's my rip so you can judge for yourself...

I'm here. My transfer comes from the I Can See For Miles UK single. I have to dig it up though. My belongings are a mess. Can't you post it Dave?

Why do they prohibit Brian Wilson, of all people?

I was at the 10/8/04 Glenside show. Anything from that time period would be super.

Brian Wilson concerts?

I badly want to download a concert from the Smile tour, if not the show I was actually at, but I can't find any Brian Wilson bootlegs anywhere. What's the deal? I've never had so much fun at a concert and I want to relive the magic.
