It is actually not a boardtape but from a 4-track recording. I believe it was recorded w/ the eye on a future live release, but rejected because of the -obviously- poor engineering job. The first portion (everything up to relax) is from April 5, the rest from 6. The sunrise boot does have some viny...

I also used the new "Revolution 1" alternate. JWB, can provide any details of this new alternate take? Thanks. It's RM1 - there is additional banter at the beginning and there are no horns or lead guitar yet. It's the same mix heard in the background of that Yoko tape where she's yapping ...

I listened to that really quick, but is that in three sections? The middle section sucks. The first and last sound much better. Inglot's recent mastering work sucks donkey nuts. Solid Zinc makes my ears bleed. The Yardbirds set is horrifying. His awful work on the Monkees "Headquarters" de...

The fact that stereo mixes exist at all for those early tracks makes me curious, since the intended goal was supposed to be mono, and Talmy soon parted ways with The Who, along with the tapes. Perhaps they *were* overdubbing to the stereo mix? Where did MCA get those tapes for the "missing"...

The Who: Fillmore East 1968 board tape

What is the best source for this show? I had a cassette a long time ago and I thought the sound was poor. On a whim the other day, I downloaded a CD bootleg on the SUNRISE label. It's clearly taken from an excellent quality "Leeds"-style stereo tape, but it has unfortunately been remastere...

Has anybody heard the "Looking On" remaster yet? The CD single mastering of "Feel Too Good" sucks ass so I'm not looking forward to it. On SHTV I'm hearing the same crap stories as the first two... "It is clearer and there is less hiss, so it's obviously taken from a better ...

God bless him, but I haven't really been thrilled with the Purple Chick stuff I've heard, in the sense that he just compiles stuff. He doesn't seem to do any remastering or touching up, and his editing skills are crude. His sets are great if you're looking for all the bootleg stuff, in raw form, in ...

The Nirvana box set also used lossy and cassette-sourced tracks instead of master tapes.

For the 10 millionth time, the Canadian CD is not a true Hoffman CD mastering. It was made by somebody at MCA from an analog copy tape that Steve prepared. This is according to Steve himself. Not only is it inferior sounding to Steve's true mastering, it also has the space between songs blacked out ...

Beach Boys songs remixed in stereo?

I need a list of Beach Boys songs that have been remixed in stereo, and where they can be found. I could have sworn that I saw such a list before but I don't know where. I figured Goodwin at least could get things rolling. I need to know at least which songs are remixed on the last 3 hits comps they...

The funniest is when the Japanese try to transcribe Frank Zappa. Sometimes what they come up with is even funnier than the actual lyrics.

The bass isn't very clearly defined on the stereo mix, but I'd have to guess bass/drums are on one track (left), guitar and sitar on another (right), and maybe one track for vocals. Perhaps some of the percussion is on the fourth track. I thought "Aftermath" was done on 3-Track. I don't t...

Yes, when I play a DVD on the program, and on the disc I burn with the the program.
