Is there a internationally accepted standard as to what constitutes a civil war? Because it seems to me as though it has been one for a long time now, even if the mainstream media is too cowardly to admit it.

Who cares (not me), but I noticed that Townshend is now a paid endorser of the "new" Hiwatt amps. Guess they're not paying him enough to have him actually drag them onstage, though. Yeah, Hiwatt is the trademark early 70s British rock guitar sound. The entire 70s Pink Floyd output is excl...

What's worse, the leather-red-clad ass of Loverboy, or the 501-covered ass of Born-in-the-USA Brruuucce?

Neither. They're both outshined (no pun intended) by the bare-assed male models on Rush and Yes albums.

I don't play the guitar (if that wasn't already apparent), so I don't know what (body, pickups, amps, etc) makes the biggest difference, but I sure liked Pete's SG sound in the late '60s/early '70s. Hiwatt amps, considered by some as the best guitar amp of all time. My guitar playing friend bought ...

Nice work, 801!

Hell Bank Note correctly predicted the length of time it would take to get a lifetime ban by posting about the "Forbidden Topic."

Craig, your Phil Collins montage made my day. You'll see no excuses from me for my lack of participation. I was immersed in what seemed like fifty other events in my life. I lurked, because that's what I had the time for. Perhaps the fact that I was feeling creatively spent and, at the same time, co...

That Chicago Transit Authority performance of "I'm a Man" is really good. I found it amusing watching the horn section convert to a percussion/backup singer/booty shaking section for the performance. The Black Cat Bone has a thread about Youtube that mentioned: Roxy Music - Do The Strand: ...

I really like this turntable. Previously, I used a Rega P3, Music Hall, two SOTAs, and a Dual direct-drive. My interest in this turntable grew from a reverse snobbery I was feeling toward audiophiles at the time. The "direct-drive sucks" argument was starting to sound like hot air to me. I...

if they do, it's not next to Doonesbury. I rea dthat every day in the WP and never see that Mallard crap. (and Doonesbury's been *really good* fro awhile now with the whole BD/disabled vet story) Fortunately then, they must have canceled it at some point. I remember reading it in the WP when I was ...

I've never been to a King Crimson show, but I saw concert consisting of Fripp, Gunn and Belew on drums while I was at the Montreal Jazz Festival. The concert was mostly boring. I was interested to see if Fripp would snarl at someone in the audience, but no one provoked him. The musicianship was blan...

Mary Worth gets the higher vote, only because it's so well parodied on the Simpsons. Also, I can't neglect to mention one of Homer's favorites: Rex Morgan M.D., "The prescription for the daily blues".

Mallard freakin' Fillmore: it's like the 80s never died. The Washington Post used to print that piece of substitute toilet paper in the funnies/OpEd section adjacent to Doonesbury. I guess they must still run it. On my funny scale, I'd rank Mallard Fillmore right in between Prince Valiant and Mary W...
