BBC radio's Stereo broadcasting, certainly for rock/pop shows on Radio 1, didn't really start until the late 70s, and even then it was only for one-off shows like concerts, rather than round-the-clock. I can remember the 'Radio 1... in... stereo' jingles getting played a lot round about 1979/1980, l...

Vol.2 could use one of the most obscure and overlooked outtakes from the mid 60s, 'Trouble In Mind.' It's a 12-bar instrumental with kazoos - I kid ye not - supposedly from 1966. I think it circulates from a radio broadcast a few years ago where Chris Jagger played some of his collection, and this w...

I finally got to hear this and must say it's great, probably the best new vintage Stones boot for some time. Those first three tracks are completely new - Track 1 being another Arthur Alexander cover a la You Better Move On, would have slotted in fine on the first LP, and the two new Chess tracks ar...

Beatles: Purple Chick 'Deluxe' series
I see those awfully nice people at Purple Chick have issued a series of '...deluxe' CDR versions of the Fabs' albums - all known stereo/mono mixes of each UK album, plus sessions/outtakes (effectively upgrades/updates on recent efforts by labels like Secret Trax, Silent Sea etc.) I've seen crappily ...

hmmm... I post this subject/thread, get no responses for a few days, come back after a while and it's thriving (I thought it might!) Alas, I can't get the rapidshare link to download without being corrupt but I have the 'TT 5' CD coming to me from an other source... thanks for all comments whihc sug...

Rolling Stones 'Time Trip Vol.5'
Anyone heard this yet? A new(ish) release from Bad Wizard aka Scorpio; contains some upgrades on rare stereo mixes and a real find in the Chess 'Key to the Highway' and 'Mercy Mercy,' and 'Going Home' snippets/false starts (I presume from the timings) I'm curious how the new stuff sounds. (Tracks/in...

Not sure how up to date this thread is but I've just found it; sounds like that Mr Saunders is in no rush to win any new customers. A good source for styli which I use is Mantra Audio in the UK;free postage in the UK, and they do international mail order and I expect shipping costs won't be too imme...

I bought the Japanese mini-LP version of the 2CD deluxe edition of My Generation - both discs came in replicas of the UK Brunswick and US Decca album sleeves, although the tracklisting and running order of the CDs is identical to the regular (UK/US) 2CD release. But as a bonus, and I think this was ...

My 2p-worth: 'Self Portrait' - serves a useful function as an outtakes compendium rather than a cohesive album to listen to, a la 'Dylan', and later on 'Biograph' and 'Bootleg Series 1-3'. If it hadn't been released people would still jump through hoops to track down its material. And then file 99% ...

Re: Rolling Stones "Think"
heck is "Necrophilia?" I've never heard it, but I think it was another of the 'planned outtake compilations' that got scrapped, before we got 'Metamorphosis' instead. A bootleg surfaced on vinyl and later CD, but as far as I know there's nothing unique on it: http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?na...
