Re: MoveOn.org TV Ad Urges Bush to Pull Troops From Iraq

As far as Iraq (in retrospect), maybe not much now, but ultimately I suppose it depends on who you poll. In general, I don't think political hate groups are are good thing. Have you actually met a Moveon member?? They're actually pretty well meaning if a bit strident. Oh but stridency is only OK wh...

I still think McCain's a front-runner if he gets the nomination - unless the party wants to nominate another guy like Bush - but not so much now that he's become more of a party-member and less the independent. McCain will be 72 in 2008, which would make him the oldest man elected President if he w...

I beseech you -- if you have your retirement account with Charles Schwab, move it somewhere else. They are one of the prime movers in the privatization proposal. I had a little email exchange with them and they claimed otherwise, which is kinda funny since Schwab himself is writing $250,000 checks t...

But W. needs to take care of his buddies in the private sector, and that takes precedence over everything. Rolling back a portion of the Bush upper-class tax cuts would fund SS well into the next century. Ryan This whole thing sucks the shit sandwich. Reagan and Greenspan pushed through a payroll t...

There's an entire generation moving out of P-town right now. Too many yuppie condos, not enough jobs. Things have not recovered from the dot-com hangover. There's no defense infrastructure base, so no way to tap into the new growth economy. Maybe someone should start marketing Victory Gin. Hee hee,...

Local vodkas are prevalent in the Portland area, including Crater Lake and New Deal. With the local economy like it is, hard drinking is prevalent and in-style. That said, isn't calling your vodka "New Deal" just a weeeee bit dire? Nahhh -- the New Deal was a good thing. I think the distillers are ...

Odd. Every Trader Joe's in California has a liquor section. The best Vodka I know of is Finlandia. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet. Finlandia is certainly one of the best deals going in vodka. Priced at $15 for 750 ml in my area, tastes good, no "burn" going down, mixes well with others....

I haven't been to Europe since the go-go dot-com era, but I know what you mean. I went to Dublin and it was fantastic. Everything was bustling, and nostalgia was for the birds. U2 was considered old hat, and new musical forms were apparent everywhere. Sure, you had your bands still plying their Iris...

COLA, Thanks for the info. In my research, I'm seeing that CuBase LE is definitely the entry level for DAW. If I ever get into to video production and have the need to sync video with audio, CuBase ain't gonna cut it. Steinberg's Nuendo seems pretty impressive, but the $2K price is a bit daunting. A...

That's what I thought too. Of course, there was a bit more equipment involved then just a simple Firewire interface.

Hey -- I'll bet this thing can do needle drops as well. The blasphemy!

Digital recording with Firewire

Anyone into this kind of stuff?: http://www.presonus.com/firepod.html I'm seriously thinking of plunking down some coin to get an HP laptop w/AMD 64 chip and Firewire interface. Anyone around have experience with CuBase? Good? Bad? Indifferent? I'm looking to do Podcasts and live recordings of some ...
