Re: Boomer history ends on September 9 (Beatles remasters)

Only if you don't care about the sometimes differenct US mixes (some have more echo or reverb, some other subtle differences - they sound more "wet"). Also the sequence of songs.

Federal prosecutors rarely charge clients in prostitution cases, which are generally seen as state crimes. But the Mann Act, passed by Congress in 1910 to address prostitution, human trafficking and what was viewed at the time as immorality in general, makes it a crime to transport someone between ...

The space between the rails in NYC is pretty small. The depth and clearance varies by subway line and by station, and is generally the filthiest place imaginable, often wet, with the occasional cat-sized rat scavenging around. It makes what the guy did even more amazing. Thank G-d his daughters (4 a...

It's too bad Paypal's practices are questionable. But that's no reason to set off a bomb. People are pissed off at lots of things all the time, but don't send mail bombs or go postal. Maybe someone should start a class-action lawsuit instead.

Saw them live last year at a free outdoor show in Hoboken and they were great! Unfortunately, they didn't do "I'm Chief Kamanawanalea (We're the Royal Macadamia Nuts)"!

Back catalog is going to go to download services exclusively in the very near future, I think

As a collector, I have to say that that would bite moose big time.

I still go to all the record shops around the Village for used CDs and vinyl. But I have to agree about Bleecker Bob's and Norman's -- I NEVER go to those two. The only thing Norman's is good for is that they often sell new releases as soon as they receive them, before the official authorized Tuesda...

The U.S. Abbey Road cassette has Here Comes The Sun on side 1 and Come Together on Side 2. First piece of prercorded music I ever bought (late 1969).

Ugh. And I suppose it will be just as flimsy as the last one, for consistency's sake? At least we'll know in advance that the contents of the box will fly out and onto the floor if you're not careful. :|

I was there too. I always go, as I live only about 1/2 mile away. I didn't talk to Bob Irwin this time (he was at the Sundazed booth), but I have at several past WFMU fairs. Nice guy, though not always the easiest to converse with. (Also, is it just me, or doesn't he look a little like Rod Argent?) ...

I downloaded 1.0.6 yesterday and I too thought it was slower. I thought maybe the reinstall cleared the cache and this was the explanation, since all the graphics of the pages I visit, etc., have to be newly downlaoded (I have dial-up at home). I hope this is the case, anyway. :|

Cool! That was my freshman year in college. I'm sure I had friends who went to that show. I didn't attend Cornell, but I did visit there that year and joined a high school buddy at a show in Barton Hall, not the Dead, but Linda Ronstadt.
