Re: Sell Out Deluxe Edition

Any word on this thing that supposedly comes out next week in the UK? I ordered it through amazon.co.uk for the bargain price of eleven pounds. Glad I didn't get that Classic mono vinyl now. Supposedly the early mix of ICSFM is interesting - single tracked, count-off and "sans overdubs", ...

Re: Sell Out Deluxe Edition

I'm really looking forward to the unreleased versions of Glittering Girl and Summertime Blues. IIRC Glittering Girl is a completely different performance recorded several months after the version on the '95 reissue and Summertime Blues is a studio version recorded a few months before the studio vers...

Re: Revolution 1 - unedited 11:35 version

This really wets my appetite for the 27 minute Helter Skelter... FWIW, according to Lewisohn, there was only a single remix from take 20 (on 6/4/68), and it was taken away by John Lennon. Barrett's notes don't even have a tape number assigned, just "(MONO REMIX OF REVOLUTION TAKEN)"...

Revolution 1 - unedited 11:35 version

Note that this is a mp3. I don't think lossless versions have circlated. Sounds like it runs a little slow. Otherwise quality is excellent. Amazing to finally hear it after all these years but it probably won't be something I reach for too often. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download...

Re: A Quick One Box

Ordered this for $30 from around Xmas from an Amazon Marketplace seller and it is apprently lost in the mail. I haven't seen any copies going for less than $120 in the past month. Any torrents out there of the set?

Re: The Who - Philly '73

Excellent post Jeff. I'll have to give the Largo version another listen. I think Sea and Sand might be my favorite Who song.

Re: A couple Hendrix multitracks

Fuck. Little Wing multitracks  I wonder if they will let it play past the fade. I've always wondered how much longer it went on.

Re: The Who - Philly '73

It's the performances that are ragged and very loose. I just listened to Sea and Sand from the Tales CD version, and it just is a wreck. Now granted a Who wreck is better than most bands will ever be. I need to listen to WG's version again. Because if I recall they used the other night we are much ...

A couple Hendrix multitracks

I have no idea what the provenece of these are and all I have is the mp3 files. Not sure why there are only 6 tracks. The PH guitar track is a lot of fun. EDIT: Looks like these are from Guitar Hero. I had no idea there were Hendrix tracks on GH. Just listened to WCM and there is something seriously...

Re: The Who - Philly '73

Does this look right? Everything not notated woud be from WV or Tales. I Can't Explain - '99 remix Summertime Blues - '99 remix My Wife - '99 remix My Generation - '99 remix I Am The Sea - '99 remix? The Real Me - '99 remix Punk & the Godfather - VFABP I'm One 5:15 Sea & Sand Drowned - '99 r...

Re: The Who - Philly '73

I think the audio posted at Wolfgang's Vault may trump Tales From The Who for the common tracks since they are pre-FM. AFAIK all versions of Tales From The Who are sourced from someone taping a FM broadcast. We have the 9 tracks that were remixed in '99 or so, WGFA from the King Biscuit comp, the 2 ...

Has anyone tried to assemble the complete show in best quality available with the various (partial) sources available?

Re: A Quick One Box

Thanks for the review Luke. I was close to pulling the trigger on this but if Batman, Bucket T and Disguises are fucked up I may pass. Why does every single Who reissue have something fucked up? I get the feeling Astley never bothers to audition other versions. Is the Batman instrumental the same t...

Re: A Quick One Box

Most of that is fairly minor, although there are 3 clear *problems* on the stereo disc. Batman and Bucket T both have an obvious metallic ringing or haze. Strange, since both sound more or less fine on the 2002 CD. Also, Disguises has some odd breakup at 2:08 that isn't present on any other copies ...
