What the Hull?!?

Or should I say "Who", the Hull show from 1970 is being released in the 40th anniversary Leeds super-deluxe set. Luke, any inside info on this? I know the whole "the bass didn't record" thing has been beat to death. I interpret that as, "It didn't record sufficiently for 197...

Re: Sell Out Deluxe Edition

Yes, but that Classic Mono issue was priced fair at $24.99 (or less at Amoeba) and came with a rare poster reprint. I wanted that poster. From thewho.com: "The initial quantities include limited edition replica of Osiris Visions poster that was packaged only with the original first pressing of...

Re: The Who - Philly '73

Wow, you know how long it takes to search for Largo/Landover/Washington/Philly? Finally found it on TTD from 1zeppelin2: "This comes directly from the pre-FM reel sent out by KBFH .... This is a Quad matrix and can be played back through a Quad decoder to make it into 4 channels. The opening tr...

Re: The Who - Philly '73

Being one of the most obtainable Who boots ever, I've had this broadcast memorized since 1980 or so. I never cared for the awful original mix of it and I don't think any version is astonishingly better than another to the average listener. Don't mean to sound so ho-hum - it really is a favorite of m...

I'm just getting started on this tonight finally. A couple other odd things right off, the double tracked violin in Baba seems complete. We normally here only a couple seconds of the second violin. I was hoping for the alternate 'normal' guitar solo on Going Mobile that we hear a snippet of on that ...

Dunno if this is the same editing job but there was the Polydor LP Rarities Vol II that was about 6:17. When this came out on CD, it was combined with Vol I and Baby got a quick fade out at 4:54. Later versions have it restored to 6:17 although the CD art still reads 4:54. I can't recall how this st...

Gotta say that was pretty frickin cool. I haven't given that album a proper listen in probably 20 years. Paul's isolated bass is another highlight to me. No flashy notes from Paul, but he sure could pick 'em.

I'd look around to see if it's already been "liberated" as they like to say in the torrent world. I don't know how many times I got trades that I had to keep hush-hush only to find that everyone else had the same thing already and we were keeping it secret for no particular reason. If it's...

That's frickin hilarious. With all the "Britney's hair" and "Milli Vanilli movie" talk lately it's great that classical music has something to offer as well.

Chicken : egg. Bill Graham : bootleg. I have to believe many of these bootlegs were taken out of the archieves years ago anyway. From the artists I'm familiar with, the concerts that are showing up on Wolfgangs are the same concerts that have been on bootleg and there has yet to be any "Great L...

In the recent London concert, Fragments was played right before Wire & Glass seemingly tieing them together even more. But then again Tea And Theatre has always been seperated closing out the entire show. Don't know what's up with the Old Red Wine piece. Very odd bit of editing there. One disc h...

Yes, you're right about that. I also need to compare the demos I have on boots since Pete sometimes cleans up his demos for their official release.
