Re: Boomer history ends on September 9 (Beatles remasters)

Can I safely assume that the 2 recent box sets of the U.S. versions of these albums in mono and stereo form will be rendered completely superfluous by this set of releases (assuming you don't want them for the packaging, that is)?

Nope. Comics continuity these days is hideously complex. The publishers are coming up with "mega-events" so often now that they feel they have to make major changes to characters on a regular basis just to break through the noise and generate interest. (See my post above re: Spider-Man. H...

You guys seem to forget what DC comics was like before Crisis on Infinite Earths. Unlike Marvel, DC was basically static, with no changes occurring of significance in the vast majority of titles year after year. I've been reading comics about 35 years now, and while I agree some of the storylines ar...

So, some of these, including the Lane SACD, have now turned up at yourmusic.com for $6.99. I saw very little in this two page thread about the sound quality (other than suspicions they would suck based on Astley's involvement). So, what's the verdict? Good, bad or indifferent?

Thanks for this thread. I had offered $75 a disc to "test the waters" on these, never heard a response and then noticed the thread had vanished. I figured someone had decided it wasn't legal to sell these but was glad to see the confirmation of what happened with the thread here...

I'd also like to point out that this fine work of art is a product of Lexington, KY. Home sweet home. Ryan Interesting. I'm equally glad to report that, despite that fact I buy $40-50 worth of comics every week in Lexington, KY, I've never laid eyes on this book, and didn't know about it before rea...

Gee, I get busy at work for a few days, and look what happens! Oh well, sorry to see the "snakepit" close, as it was always good for a laugh.

I love this record, but already have the prior remaster and the Tigers track on the greatest hits album. So, even if it isn't complete shite, I've not read anything indicating it sounds superior to the prior version. As such, why bother getting it?

Damn, my memory is getting bad. Yes, you're right. What I actually thought at the time was how I was glad to see Mermaid Smile surface on CD on the Rag and Bone Buffet CD (the b-sides collection).

I fell in love with XTC with Skylarking (still my favorite of the band's records) after hearing a promo copy of the LP while working at a record store. After that, I desperately waited for a CD version to appear, and can verify that the first CD issue came several months after the LP and did indeed ...

Cool. Glad I didn't unknowingly offend. I've grown fairly tired of the nuts at wildcatfaithful. Most don't exercise even a modicum of reason, so I rarely post there since the election. I much prefer the political climate here, even though I rarely contribute. My fellow Kentuckian, Ryan, seems to cov...

A response 8 months in the making... Well, given that the reference came in a thread I'd never posted in, yeah, it took me 8 months to see it and respond. I may be "classless", whatever that means in the context of this thread, but am certainly unclear why I was even referenced here. The reference ...

I voted just after 7 am in Lexington, KY and had to wait about 20 minutes, which is as long as I've ever had to wait to vote. I'm optimistic/hopeful that this reflects overall heavy turnout which will favor the challenger over the incumbent. As Ryan notes, it is irrelevant here in Kentucky but we ca...
