FLACs of what looks like a useful set. I'm not familiar enough with the various sets / mixes etc to know exactly what's what.

Keith Badman's Good Times, Bad Times says that the stereo experimental show was 1 hour long but the second half was made up of "standards from the shows". The Stones / Georgie Fame made up the first 30 mins. I was amazed when I first heard the quality of this session, especially when you c...

Perhaps it was only half an hour. I think those Beatles shows (before the extended Bank Hol specials) were only 30 mins. Not sure about edits. They might have tidied it up afterwards but it does feel quite live. Stereo machines seem to have been pretty rare at the BBC in those days so bouncing it ar...

I'd guess that perhaps the finished show ran for an hour; or maybe it took an hour to tape it. I don't have the audio to hand but I'm pretty sure Baldry refers to other acts in his intro. It wasn't a "Stones" show per se - it was called something like "Rhythm And Blues" or simila...

Re: the Stones thing - it was part of a stereo test broadcast. One channel on FM radio, the other via the TV (at a time when nothing else was being shown). Apparently there were instructions in Radio Times showing listeners how to position their speakers in advance. Bad news is that *is* the show. T...

Still no sign of an extracted PIB then.... JJF should be interesting. When did Olympic go 8 track? I had in my head that Satanic was 4 track, Beggars was 8 track. Sympathy is 8 track - right? Jigsaw Puzzle outtakes ended up on that Satanic Sessions box. There aren't any other booted Beggars session ...

Not sure about 40 Licks. If the deal with Virgin hadn't expired I would have thought it would have stayed on catalogue for a while as a fairly servicable hits compilation. That said, would you now *reissue* something that relates to a passed anniversary and an old tour? Given that you could stick so...

All idle speculation of course but I'm more hopeful of things to satisfy fans coming from Universal than Virgin. Universal are pretty good at *working* their material. They like to get product out there. Check the repro singles box sets and the Rolled Gold set which I think were all co-ordinated in ...

http://www.nme.com/news/nme/38416 Jumping Jack Flash; also Wind Cries Mary if this leak is to be believed. It says "live" Purple Haze although I thought the existence of an outtake on the purple box implied they had the multis for the session. Johnny B Goode and Smells Like Teen Spirit too...

Then there's the speculation about a Beatles edition of Guitar Hero.....

And still no Paint It, Black extraction yet. Anyone found one?

Fake! The right channel is a loop of the guitar intro and (I'm guessing) a sample of the first snare hit. Synched up, with a bit of the original channel filtered in. It's just snare hits - no cymbals for example. Also, once the drums kick in, the guitar changes style. More strumming, less open chord...

Quadrophenia / Love Reign O'er Me mix question

Just listened to Quadrophenia properly for the first time. Yeah, I know. The film didn't really do it for me and I had the obvious tracks from it on comps. I'm just getting my head around this part of their career - never really got too deep in anything post Who's Next. I'm listening to the remixed ...

You beat me to it! I had a play with Atom Heart.... but couldn't get anything I was happy with. I'm still holding out for a decent mono tape. There must be one somewhere. Probably on some 80s CD that has long been ditched by most people in favour of the Harvested "remasters". JWB - do you ...
