Re: New Who Japanese mini-LPs
I'd be interested, in the sense that I have no intention of purchasing expensive imports but would consider purchasing domestic/European issues (although I see no point in reissuing things like the BBC Sessions). That said, I would hope that they would be priced like the Universal reissues of the ea...

Re: Pre-emphasis list?
I am still reading this, sort of, and I'm glad you agree with me. Decoded it isn't a perfect match for what I think it should sound like (or, for that matter, the Barking Pumpkin CD), but it's close. Sheik and YAWYI become a lot more bearable as well. I simply wonder how such an oversight could have...

Hail to the Thief Deluxe
Is it just me, or is the "LA Version" of "I Will" on this package...not? It appears to actually be the pre-mastered version...which is something of a mindfuck, as I always assumed that these discs were just compiled from other CDs, and that version of "I Will" hasn't ex...

Re: Pre-emphasis list?
I've always been deeply suspicious that those Frank Zappa EMI CDs "have" preemphasis, but neglect to include the flag. They sound much more natural decoded.

David Bowie S/T Deluxe - A Question
Yo all, So 'cuz I can't think of where else to ask this: According to the press release for the upcoming David Bowie S/T deluxe edition (seriously: first Space Oddity, now this? I never thought I'd be catered to in quite this way), the mono mix of the album will be making its first appearance on CD:...

That purports to be the new "Komm."
Does it sound weird to anybody else?

I don't trust him as far as I can throw him (he has been pandering over on the right for the past few months, and seems to have suddenly come to the conclusion that he'll never win, so he's switched tactics), but still: Jesus.

Re: Boomer history ends on September 9 (Beatles remasters)
Using the 1987 remixes again is slightly curious, but I can't say I'm entirely surprised. I think it's just plain weird, and makes me wonder exactly what sources they're using for the other tracks. Frankly, the press release smacks of early-90s reissue hyperbole. Exactly how in the fucking world do...

Chiming in as requested:
The source could be any number of things, including the Capitol boxen. It's a flash video, for crying out loud.

Firefox's Selective Hatred of Flash
Hey all, So something I can't quite figure out: for some time, Firefox hasn't been able to play some flash files correctly. It can do Youtube, for example, but it dies on Myspace; it can't play samples from hmv.co.jp, it can't load most non-Youtube videos from Gawker, and so on. Uninstalling and rei...

Re: Do you use Vista or are you sticking with XP for now?
My experiences with Vista are generally isolated to me attempting to get something to work on a friend's computer via methods that have worked for years, only to find that options are hidden and/or obscured, the command prompt no longer works properly, moving a file presents seven "are you sure...
