Audio Fidelity Dylan's Greatest Hits
The thread about this disc over at SHTV is appearing and disappearing, getting edited, locked, and unlocked over and over. Luke, am I mistaken or did I see you post that you just received a copy of this disc before the thread was scrubbed and relocked? I'm just curious if it actually features vintag...

Re: Q about the Elvis Complete Masters set
Thanks. I've never heard anything about the master tape having been lost for this song, so I'm doubtful it's an issue of the earlier version being sourced from a higher-generation tape and the master having the dropout. I'm surprised no one at hoffman has commented on this, though perhaps it's lost ...

Re: Q about the Elvis Complete Masters set
Here is a clip: http://www.sendspace.com/file/16y38q The first 20 seconds is the new Complete Masters version which has the apparent glitch at the 16-second mark. The second clip is from the old Essential 60's Masters box. So does that sound like something that could result from a bad rip?

Q about the Elvis Complete Masters set
I recently acquired this set, and I noticed an anomaly on disc 15 track 14 (You Don't Know Me). At about the 16 second mark, Elvis's voice shifts over to the right for one second, then moves back to center. I doubt it's a master tape issue because it doesn't sound this way on any other version of th...

Re: Audio Fidelity - Parsley Sage Rosemary & Thyme
Can you guys point me to what software I would need to conduct such comparisons? Given what we know about the AF Parsley Sage CD, I'm curious to compare their version of the Band's second album to the original CD.

Re: Boomer history ends on September 9 (Beatles remasters)
One wonders what these sets will do to values of the DA CDs and the single and EP sets. September will be a good time to visit Canada... I bet there will be piles of DA and Cinram Help and Rubber Souls in the stores. I've always maintained there must be a decent amount of them out there. I figure t...

Re: Boomer history ends on September 9 (Beatles remasters)
So, is there any chance Rubber Soul and Help will feature new remixes, rather than the shitty 1987 remixes? I don't have the patience to wade through press releases and the kajillion pages of boneheaded discussion on the Hoffman forum... have they announced anywhere for certain that it's the 1987 mi...

And here's the strip for November 6: http://www.jewishworldreview.com/strips/mallard/2000/MFT20081106.jpg Not exactly going out on a Trudeau-esque limb to predict the winner here, eh? Can't wait until mid-December, to see the strips that address the actual result of the election. I predict he'll go ...

Who's Next questions
1. What accounts for the discrepancy between total CD lengths of the various versions of Who's Next? Is it just different amounts of time between tracks, or something else? 2. So, there is a non-Hoffman, pre-remaster MCA version of Who's Next, isn't there? Is this a unique mastering, or is it identi...

ignorant question about mp3 to wav conversion
All right, forgive the relative ignorance of how digital audio works, but I have a question. If I have a 256 kbps mp3, and I convert it to a .wav file, and then convert it back to a 256 kbps mp3, will the final result be identical to the mp3 I started with, or does the process of converting formats ...

Irwin seems to go for a duller sound lately... I actually prefer the gold Surrealistic Pillow over the Irwin for that reason. But in this case I like the dullness. I think in general I like a lot less treble than some folks. I chose this particular track because I thought the variety of instruments ...
